– PNPK in Scottsdale –
PNPK opened recently in North Scottsdale and we had a chance to stop by a couple of weeks ago. It is a revamp of the Grape Wine Bar and is under the same ownership, but with a refreshed interior and a fun new menu.
PNPK’s name is a play on the nearby Pinnacle Peak, which holds a special meaning for the owner. Whereas the Grape Wine Bar had lots of small plates and entrees, PNPK’s menu focuses on shared flights, namely gourmet sliders, bruschettas, deviled eggs and more. Plus, they offer flights of wine and beer as well. (Grape’s wonderful wine selections are still intact – so, plenty to choose from!)
We stopped in for Happy Hour and wanted to try lots of things off of the menu. We started with a “Devilish Egg” flight and selected the traditional, the pickle and fresh dill as well as the smoked salmon with capers. All of them were outstanding.
We also ordered a Bruschetta flight and three generous portions were served. We selected the Prosciutto with Marscapone, Fig Jam and Honey, the Truffle Mushroom and Creamy Brie and the Roasted Grape, Burrata and Rosemary. Again, all three were delicious.
We rounded out our meal with the signature sliders. The sliders are creative and have a lot of variety – from burgers, to chicken to meatballs and more. We had the Maple Candied Bacon on an Angus Burger, the Crispy Fried Hot Chicken and the Turkey Meatloaf with Mashed Potatoes. All three hit it out of the park.
The decor still retains a lot of the Grape influences, but the lounge area has been expanded and updated. Plus, there is a new communal food table that runs down the center of the restaurant.
We absolutely love the new direction the restaurant has taken. The flight concept allows you to order as little or as much food as you want and encourages you to try lots of different flavors and options. Everything we ordered was tasty and the creativity of the menu means it will be hard to get bored with the menu.
PNPK is a great place to stop in for a quick lunch, happy hour bites and drinks or a full meal. Plus, the pricing is fantastic in that you can have a delicious and filling meal and not break the bank!
Special Tip: They offer a special cocktail called the Tickle Me PNPK Punch, where $1 from every sale will be donated to the volunteer group, Friends of Pinnacle Peak Park. A win-win!
We have been back since and plan to add this to our regular rotation as it is a great addition to the neighborhood.
Oh, and did we mention the patio is dog-friendly?
