– Candytopia Scottsdale –
We were lucky enough to score opening day tickets to Candytopia and what an entertaining and fun-filled morning that was!
Candytopia opened in what used to be the Nike store in Scottsdale Quarter and has been extended through March 2020. When you purchase tickets, you can choose from various time slots. There are only 40 tickets available for each slot, which is great because it controls the crowds and allows for a better experience.
Candytopia bills itself as an “outrageously interactive candy wonderland” and that is a great way to describe it. It is spread over two floors and each new room introduces a whole new level of creativity. We took tons of photos, but since it is much more exciting to experience it on your own, I will only include a couple in this post.
When you enter, be sure to take advantage of the photo opportunity to the left. Head on up the stairs and wait with your group until the grand doors open. When you enter the first room, you will meet an interesting character who will entertain you with stories and give you the lay of the land. Once that is complete, you are welcome to enter the rest of the ‘wonderland’ and explore the various vignettes at your own pace.
The level of creativity and detail is astonishing. Plus, it is incredibly interactive. You are encouraged to touch the art and they even sweeten the deal by having candy samples for all of the guests in each area. (My son thought this was a fantastic idea! 🙂 )
There are so many amazing photo opportunities along the way and the staff was always offering to take pictures of us so that everyone could be in the photo.
Tip: Be sure to download the Candytopia Sugar Rush app before you get there or when you are waiting to start. It unlocks several Augmented Reality opportunities throughout the exhibit that turn into some entertaining images.
At the very end is a very clever take on a ball pit and everyone is welcome to hop in!
As you exit, there is a gift shop with Candytopia swag, candies, gift items and more.
One last component to mention was the staff. From the second we entered to when we left the gift shop, everyone was so friendly and helpful. I bet working in a candy wonderland is not too bad, but they truly went above and beyond with great service.
