I am already a big fan of Matt Carter’s Zinc Bistro and The Mission and have been wanting to try The House Brasserie. We finally made it there and ended up having a great meal, enhanced by our outgoing server.
The House is just that, a charming historic home in Old Town Scottsdale. They opened up the interior of the house, but kept many wonderful architectural details. The decor is sleek but comfortable and there is a large patio out front for al fresco dining.
A small group of us went for an early dinner and ended up sharing most of our items as there were so many things we each wanted to sample. The menu is packed with flavorful combinations inspired from places all over the globe and you can go as light or hearty as you want.
On the appetizer side, we had the Smoked Burrata appetizer and the Duck Confit Meatballs. (The House tries to source as many of its ingredients from local purveyors as possible, such as the burrata.) The burrata was served with a truffle vinaigrette and leeks. It came with some delicious crunchy bread to soak up the sauce, which we happily did. The duck confit meatballs were also excellent. The meatballs sat on a base of tomato agrodolce. They were decadent, but not overly rich.
From the entrees, we sampled the Creekstone Filet and Seared Diver Scallops. We also ordered the Grilled Broccoli Carbonara as an accompaniment. Both entrees were excellent and each had a little twist that you do not often see elsewhere. For instance, the filet came with shishito peppers and corn, making for a spicy, but not overwhelming, bite. The scallops came served over spaetzle and cabbage.
Overall, we had an excellent meal with attentive service and will definitely be back to try more of the items we did not get to this time.
