Scottsdale has a wide variety of housing and real estate options for both year-round and seasonal living. Different areas of Scottsdale offer different real estate opportunities.
DOWNTOWN SCOTTSDALE AND OLD TOWN
Downtown Scottsdale and South Scottsdale were the first developed and therefore many of the houses are single level, older homes. There are also several established condo communities. The Scottsdale Waterfront Residences are quite popular as are several other mid-rise luxury condo developments that offer excellent amenities.
Downtown Scottsdale and Old Town are quite popular places to live if you are looking for more action and a more urban setting. The Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall features some of the world’s top designers and there are many excellent restaurants that serve food from all over. Old Town is known for its galleries and the weekly ArtWalk.

CENTRAL SCOTTSDALE
In central Scottsdale, you will find several planned communities developed around bodies of water as well as several golf course communities. McCormick Ranch and Gainey Ranch are two of the most well-known. To the east, Scottsdale Ranch is another large community that offers homes, townhomes and condos, many of them on or near the water. Some homes in this area of Scottsdale also have equestrian facilities.
Another very popular area is the Kierland and Scottsdale Quarter neighborhood. The two outdoor shopping centers are a big draw with plenty and varied dining options. There are several condo communities right around the shopping areas, such as the Plaza Lofts at Kierland, The Landmark and Optima Kierland, as well as golf villas that dot the Westin Kierland golf course. Beyond that, you will find established single-family home neighborhoods.

NORTH SCOTTSDALE
The northern part of Scottsdale is the most recent to have been developed. In the section closer to the 101 freeway, you will find some excellent, large master-planned communities like DC Ranch and McDowell Mountain Ranch. Both of these communities offer a variety of housing options and sizes, depending on what you are looking for. As you head further north, the area becomes less developed and you start to see more of the natural desert and stand-alone homes. However, there are also some substantial golf communities in this area including Desert Mountain, Terravita and The Boulders. Other well-known golf communities in North Scottsdale include Silverleaf, Desert Highlands, Estancia, Whisper Rock, Grayhawk, Mirabel and Troon and Troon North.
