When most people think of Scottsdale, homes on the water do not tend to come right to mind. However, while waterfront homes are not very common in the area, there are some communities and neighborhoods that offer this amenity.
Scottsdale Ranch
One community that has a lot of waterfront property is Scottsdale Ranch. Scottsdale Ranch is located in Central Scottsdale, east of the 101 and south of Shea Boulevard. Lake Serena, at 42 acres, is the largest body of water and there are a couple smaller lakes.
Residents can register for a lake pass that gives them access to boating and fishing on Lake Serena. At any given time, you might see pontoon boats, canoes and kayaks or even paddleboats out in the water. (Note: Only electric/battery operated motors are allowed and there is no swimming or paddleboarding allowed.)
With almost five miles of shoreline, many residents have waterfront lots with docks.
McCormick Ranch
McCormick Ranch is another community that features many bodies of water. It is located in Central Scottsdale as well and is south of Shea and west of the 101. It has been around for over forty years and is well-known for its golf and amenities.
There are ten lakes spread throughout this former cattle and horse ranch. Similarly to Scottsdale Ranch, you can boat and fish in designated lakes. You will need to get a resident pass and only battery or human-powered boats are allowed.
McCormick Ranch features two golf courses that make up the Mc Cormick Ranch Golf Club. The courses are open to the public, but there are also memberships if you plan to play there frequently or make it your “home” course.
Other Waterfront Options
With the large number of public and private golf courses in Scottsdale, there are also a large number of lakes and water features. Waterfront homes in these communities overlook these bodies of water and often have beautiful golf course views to accompany them.
