– The Arts in Scottsdale-
Scottsdale is well-known for its amazing climate, desert beauty and myriad golf courses. However, it also home to a vibrant arts scene with events going on throughout the year.
Yesterday, I received an email announcing the launch of Scottsdale Arts. Scottsdale Arts is a partnership between the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and Scottsdale Public Art.
While you might be familiar with the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts and the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, you may not know what Scottsdale Public Art is, although you may have seen its work around town.
Scottsdale Public Art is responsible for permanent and temporary artworks as well as planning events that showcase these exhibitions. On the permanent art side, I am sure you have seen the large doors on the corner of Camelback and Scottsdale Road or the LOVE statue on the Scottsdale Civic Center Mall. On the temporary art side, Canal Convergence at the Scottsdale Waterfront comes to mind.
All three of these entities bring a lot of value and entertainment to Scottsdale. The calendar for the 2016-2017 can be found on the updated website.
Some highlights include:
- The Scottsdale International Film Festival
- An Evening with Garrison Keillor
- The ARTrageous Benefit Gala
- The Scottsdale Culinary Festival
- Many musical, theatrical and dance performances, and more
Scottsdale Arts continues to be a huge resource to the local arts scene.
