– Scottdale Happenings in June 2016 –
Last week, I pulled together some ideas for things to do in and around Scottsdale in June. (Read the first post here.) Since there were so many options, I decided to write a second post with some additional offerings.
- The Earth – An HD Odyssey – June 3rd and 4th – This incredible, unique, sensory experience pairs the Phoenix Symphony and a presentation of high-definition space photos from NASA.
- Michael Mc Donald – June 7th – Michael Mc Donald, formerly of the Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan, will be performing at the Celebrity Theater.
- Summer Splash Tuesdays at Desert Ridge – Tuesdays June 7th through 28th – This is the first of two kid and family-friendly June events. During the month of June, Desert Ridge will be hosting its Splash Party with music, games, appearances from princesses and superheroes and so much more. June features Frozen characters, Star Wars characters and more.
- Mighty Mud Mania – June 11th – Ready to get dirty (or not)? The City of Scottsdale is holding its annual Mighty Mud Mania event at Chaparral Park. Grab your kids or grandkids and head down to try out the mud obstacle course or one of the many other mud-related activities.
- Newsies – June 14- 19 – The Tony award winner from Disney, Newsies, will be at ASU Gammage mid-month.
- Flashlight Tours at the Desert Botanical Garden – Thursdays and Saturdays through September 3rd – Grab your flashlight and venture out in the cooler evening weather to experience and explore the Desert Botanical Garden at night. While this is appropriate for all ages, there are several Discovery Stations for the little ones to learn about various desert plants and animals.
- Tour Taliesen West – Daily – Learn more about Frank Lloyd Wright’s design, inspirations and architecture at Taliesen West. A variety of tours are offered, including an Insights Tour, Night Lights, Personal Art Collection Tour, Photography Tour, Junior Architect Tour and more.
- Kenny Rogers – June 26th – Legendary performer Kenny Rogers is coming to the Comerica Theater. This is his final world tour and should be quite a performance.
As always, this is just a partial list of things going on in and around Scottsdale next month. Feel free to add other June or upcoming events in the comments section.
