Golfweek just published its “2010 Best Modern Courses” list and six Arizona golf courses were on it.
- The highest ranked course in Arizona, coming in at #32 was Desert Forest, a private course located in Carefree, Arizona. Desert Forest was designed by Red Lawrence in 1962.
- The next course on the list, coming in a #52, was the Canyon Course at the private, upscale golf community of Forest Highlands in located in Flagstaff, Arizona. This course has been ranked as the #1 course in Arizona by Golf Digest and was designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf.
- The third Arizona golf course to rank was the Saguaro Course at We-Ko-Pa Golf Club coming in at #75. This course is located in Fort Mc Dowell, Arizona and is a public course.
- The Estancia Club in Scottsdale, Arizona was right behind We-Ko-Pa at #76. This is up three spots from last year’s #79 spot. Estancia is a private, Tom Fazio course nestled within a luxury community in North Scottsdale.
- The next golf course on the list is The Stone Canyon Club located in Oro Valley, Arizona. Close to Tucson, Jay Morrish-designed Stone Canyon Club came in at #85.
- The final Arizona golf course that made the list was the Upper Course at Whisper Rock in Scottsdale, Arizona with a ranking of #86. Designed by Tom Fazio, Whisper Rock is a invitation-only, private course located in the upscale community of the same name.
