– Mesmerica 360 at the Arizona Science Center –
This limited engagement run of Mesmerica has dates through mid-February that are still available.
The Arizona Science Center is hosting this immersive show in its Planetarium Theater through February 16th.
Mesmerica is a visual and auditory experience that can be a bit difficult to explain, but is absolutely worth experiencing.
Once you get settled into the reclined Planetarium seating, you start by looking at a beautiful image projected onto the dome and soothing music from composer James Hood. After an introduction to the show, you are immediately drawn in as the images move toward you and away from you. Some are abstract angles, some are soft, flowing waves. You might see a scene that is reminiscent of ancient ruins or a jungle at night.
Over the course of the hour show, 360 images are displayed on the dome with corresponding music.
For more about James Hood and to see videos and his explanation of the how and why of Mesmerica, please feel free to visit his website. And, you can buy tickets here.
We had age ranges from 10 to 80 with us and everyone walked away having really enjoyed the relaxing and creative experience.
Besides the fantastic show, we really enjoyed exploring the Arizona Science Center ahead of time. There were some great hands-on experiences for the younger set. There is a full bar and snacks and refreshments for sale that you are welcome to bring into the theater with you.
Overall, it was a great evening!
Tip: If you happen to be a fan of Pizzeria Bianco, there is a location steps away from the front entrance of the Arizona Science Center. Not only did we get to experience Mesmerica, we also had a fantastic meal to cap off our evening!
