– Electric Desert at the Desert Botanical Garden –
(So, technically, this takes place in Phoenix, but it is a quick drive from Scottsdale and the surrounding areas…)
If you have not had a chance to experience the Electric Desert exhibit at the Desert Botanical Garden, we highly suggest you do so before it ends on May 12th.
Starting at 7PM, the desert is transformed into a light and music show that is magical and astounding. Below is the video you can find on the DBG website that gives you an idea of what you can expect to experience.
The show was designed by Klip Collective and there are seven different installations around the gardens. The show is on a loop and the displays loop three times an hour, so you can certainly catch everything.
As you enter, you are greeted with an opening light show on the trees lining the path. From there, you simply follow the signage and wander through the gardens marveling at the beautiful exhibits. Our two favorites were the Infinity Crystal where many mirrors capture the light and movement and the Desert Chorale. For the Desert Chorale, grab a chair on the Ullman Terrace and sit back. The entire hill becomes a backdrop for the magnificent light displays that are timed with the music.
Along the way, there are places to grab a refreshment or take a break.
Our group’s ages ranged from 10 to 82 and everyone had a great time!
And, if you want to make an afternoon and evening out of it, the Spring Butterfly Exhibit is in place. The butterfly exhibit closes at five, so you can enjoy it and then go explore the park before Electric Desert starts up.
On May 7th, they are holding the final Lit & Sip of the season. Grab a cocktail, enjoy Electric Desert and then take part in a Silent Dance party where you get to choose the music style you want to dance to. (21+ for this event.)
