– Raven Gastropub in North Scottsdale –
I had been hearing about a newer restaurant in North Scottsdale that was getting a lot of positive feedback called Raven Gastropub. It is located on the northeast corner of Pima Road and Pinnacle Peak. I always love to try new places, so off we went.
Raven Gastropub seeks to deliver American comfort food and it certainly delivers.
When you walk in, there are booths along one wall and standalone tables in the middle. The bar area is in the back of the restaurant and had a nice crowd the night we were there. We were seated at one of the booths promptly by a very friendly woman.
While there are many lighter options, we went the comfort food route that evening.
We ordered the Chicken Avocado Sandwich which came on toasted sourdough bread. It was a very generous portion, delicious and the sourdough was toasted just perfectly. A sun-dried tomato aioli added extra tasty flavor. As a side, we went with the sweet potato fries which hit the spot.
We also ordered the Veggie Burger, which is made with a black bean patty and comes with on a toasted brioche bun and the standard burger fixings. I did not get a chance to try it, but I heard it was great!
As I mentioned before, there are a large number of items that will suit people with lighter appetites as well as more hearty options. The choices range over a variety of cuisines as well – from wings and fish tacos to a Cuban sandwich and Chicken Souvlaki Pita. There are eight different burger offerings, plus a diverse list of entree options. There are several salads available, including a Quinoa and Kale salad that looks very tasty.
What made this dining experience so special, however, was getting to meet one of the owners. The friendly lady we had met at the beginning and who kept checking on us, was actually an owner. She and her husband run the restaurant along with their capable staff. She made us feel very welcome and appreciated and mentioned that they try to make almost everything they serve in-house.
We will certainly be back for a return visit soon!
