Giving Back in Scottsdale
Almost everyone is familiar with the Salvation Army bell-ringers that we see around the holidays. Well, this year, Joyce Tawes is serving as a captain and will be out supporting the Salvation Army for four days over the next few weeks.
She and her fantastic team of Realty ONE Group volunteers will be located at:
AJ’s at Frank Lloyd Wright & Thompson Peak
15031 Thompson Peak Parkway
Scottsdale, AZ 85260
Dates:
Wednesday, November 28th – 11AM to 7PM
Wednesday, December 5th – 11AM to 7PM
Wednesday, December 12th – 11AM to 7PM
Wednesday, December 19th – 11AM to 7PM – ONE LAST OPPORTUNITY!
It would be wonderful if you could stop by on one of these days and spread a little holiday cheer.
And, if you are unable to stop by at this location, there will be plenty of opportunities to donate at other local businesses.
12/17/18 Update: We just learned that our Real Estate Wednesdays group that has been bell ringing all over the area has raised a record amount in just three weeks! The 158 kettles have brought in over $140,000 for the Salvation Army. These funds will be directed back into our local communities. We are so proud to be a part of this effort!
Where Do My Donations Go?
All of the donations The Salvation Army collects from the Red Kettles go back into the local communities to assist our neighbors who are less fortunate.
Some of the programs that receive help from the Red Kettle’s donations include senior programs, holiday help for the needy, family crisis centers, children’s programs, homeless outreach and heat relief programs, plus so many others.
History of the Red Kettles
Salvation Army Captain Joseph McFee started a collection to feed Christmas dinner to the less fortunate in San Francisco in 1891. He set out a collection pot and the red kettle movement began. It is now a worldwide effort to raise money that benefits local communities all year-round, not just at Christmas time.
Here is the whole story of how the Red Kettles got started.
