Where to Eat in Scottsdale: Brunch at Lon’s at The Hermosa Inn

A few weeks back, we were out and deciding where to eat. It had been a while since we had been to LON’s at The Hermosa Inn and as luck would have it, they had space available for us for their Sunday Brunch. (LON’s is actually located in Paradise Valley, but the brunch was so good, I wanted to include it here.)

It was a perfect sunny morning and they were able to accommodate us on the patio in a nice shaded area. We not only enjoyed the design of the building from our table, but the beautiful landscaping as well.

Since we always order soft pretzels when they are on the menu, we continued with tradition and ordered LON’s version. Billed as Salted Pretzel Sticks, they were served with a cheese fondue, very flavorful beer mustard and slices of apple. They were as tasty as they looked and disappeared quickly.

From there, we ordered our entrees. The first one was the Huevos Rancheros. My dining partner was a little worried about having a big heavy meal, but LON’s version was perfect. It was beautifully composed, very flavorful and was the perfect amount of food.

 

The other entree was the Shrimp and Blue Crab Louie Salad. This dish was also beautifully prepared and came with a good amount of lump crab meat and four perfectly cooked shrimp. It was light and satisfying at the same time and the watermelon radish was a great, crunchy addition to the plate.

There were two dishes ordered at other tables that looked fantastic and decadent. If you want to spoil yourself, either order the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes or the Bananas Foster Waffles. The pancakes are served with a generous helping of lemon ricotta whipped cream and a blueberry compote. The waffles come with candied pecans, brown sugar caramel and vanilla ice cream. Both dishes have definite “wow factor.”

The brunch menu at LON’s is the perfect balance between light and decadent and will appeal to all types of diners. One thing they offer that I thought was great is a Hacienda Brunch for Two, where you get a starter of smoked salmon, hummus board or bacon, plus two entrees/salads and two featured beverages for a really great price.
