As we head into May, Scottsdale and the Valley have lots of exciting and fun events coming up. Here are some of them coming up during the first part of May.
- Concerts at the MIM (Musical Instrument Museum) – Throughout May – The MIM will be hosting several concerts over the course of the month, including jazz performances, global sounds, blues and more.
- Butterfly Pavillion at the Desert Botanical Garden – Through May 14th – Catch the last couple of weeks of this exhibit. A new 3,200 square foot enclosure houses the hundreds of beautiful butterflies.
- Sips & Sounds at The Shops at Gainey Village – May 4th – Channel the 1980’s as Rock Lobster puts on a free show under the stars. Soft drinks are complimentary and food for purchase is available from the many restaurants.
- Cinco de Mayo Charity Golf Classic at Troon North – May 5th – This fun day of golf hosted by Lerner & Rowe raises money for local charities. There will be an auction, raffle, celebrity appearances and a post-golf reception.
- Run for the Roses at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess – May 6th – It is Kentucky Derby time! This afternoon lawn party will culminate in the the 143rd Run for the Roses shown on multiple screens inside and out.
- SMOCA Family Mix – May 7th – Come immerse yourself (for free!) in interactive art and science displays for all ages at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art. Create spin art and so much more!
- Talk Cinema at the Scottsdale Center of Performing Arts– May 9th – Get a sneak preview of a new film before it hits the theaters.
- Ronald McDonald House Pro-Am Golf Tournament at Desert Mountain – May 11th – This is the third year for this wonderful event where local golfers get to meet and play with LPGA, PGA and local golf pros. After golf is lunch and an awards ceremony.
- All Balanchine with Ballet Arizona – May 11th – 14th – Experience three works by Balanchine including Square Dance, Agon and Western Symphony.
- Schnepf Farms Peach Festival – Weekends May 12th – 21st – It is back! Pick some peaches, enjoy peach pancakes, take a hayride and so much more over these two weekends of the Peach Festival.
- Chef-Led Cooking Classes at Les Gourmettes Cooking School, – May 2nd – 16th – Learn to cook from some of the area’s best and most beloved chefs. Coming up in early May will be Charleen Badman and Pavle Milic, Matt Carter and Vincent Guerithault.
