– Find It All on the City of Scottsdale’s Website –
Not too long ago, the City of Scottsdale launched a newly designed website. Not only it is nicer looking, it is very easy to navigate and find information on all that the city has to offer.
On the home page, you can easily jump to the section most important to you – including News, Residents, Business and Things to Do.
Today, I want to focus on the Residents – Enjoy Scottsdale section as there are many events, classes and offerings that you may not even be aware of.
Under Residents, there are three sections. The first is City Services, followed by Enjoy Scottsdale and then Connect with City Hall.
The Enjoy Scottsdale section is full of great events, classes and opportunities that I will touch on below.
Parks, Pools & Community Centers
For instance, did you know that most of the aquatic centers are open year-round and offer things like swimming lessons? There are also programs for Senior Adults and Kids and there is a large number of offerings for Adaptive Services.
Other Offerings:
- Sports and league sports
- A Boxing and Fitness Center called Club SAR
- Community Centers – Including El Dorado, Mountainview, Chaparral and Horizon
- An extensive Preserve and Trail System
Recreation Classes
Want to learn how to use Photoshop? Need a primer on Excel? Want to join the gym? Need to reserve a ramada or shaded spot at the pool? All of these can be found in the Recreation Classes section. You can easily sign up or reserve these items quickly online.
Library
If you have not had a chance to visit one of Scottsdale’s libraries, I highly suggest it. There is so much more offered than simply checking out books. Via your library card, you have free access to subscription periodicals and music streaming services. Want to reserve a book online? No problem! Prefer to read or listen on your device? You have access to many resources for that as well. There are frequent events like speakers and many family-friendly events. Plus, there are computers available for use. It is incredible how many things you can enjoy by simply having a Scottsdale library card.
Two of the branches I like to visit are the Appaloosa and the Arabian because of their beautiful design. The Appaloosa branch even has a teen section and conference room for older students to enjoy their own space.
Event Calendar
This is your one-stop section to see what is going on. Even better, within the Event Calendar section, you can subscribe to the calendars of many activities. This way, you will not miss anything that may be of interest!
McDowell Mountain Sonoran Preserve
The McDowell Mountain Sonoran Preserve is a huge asset to Scottsdale. Thousands and thousands of acres are being preserved and are available for locals to hike, ride or bike. They have trails with varying degrees of difficulty so there is a trail for everyone. Plus, there are several educational opportunities as well.
If you are curious to learn more or just explore what the City of Scottsdale has to offer, head over to the website. You will not be disappointed!
