– Scottsdale Area Dining – La Bocca Wine Bar and Urban Kitchen –
We had a chance to have dinner at La Bocca Wine Bar and Urban Kitchen recently. (It is also known as La Bocca North.) It had been a while since I had ventured over to eat at High Street in Phoenix’s City North and I was glad I made it back.
La Bocca, by virtue of its name, is a wine bar and offers over 150 wines. They also have a large selections of beer and a full bar if wine is not your thing.
In addtion to the beverage offerings, La Bocca also has a great menu that is ideal for sharing if you want to order several things.
On the starters side, there are a variety of plates including a Charcuterie Plate, a Mediterranean Plate, a Cheese Plate as well as an Antipasti Plate. We ended up beginning our meal with the Fried Calamari. It was excellent and light with a hint of paprika and a citrus aioli.
There is an entire section of the menu dedicated to Bruschettas. You choose four from the list of about ten choices and they come out served on a plank for sharing. The four we tried and enjoyed immensely were as follows:
- Baby beets with goat cheese and honey
- Brie with marmalade
- Ricotta with rosemary and honey
- Gorgonzola with pear and basil
La Bocca also offers fresh, homemade pasta and entrees as well as a large selection of gourmet pizzas where you can order one of their offerings or make your own.
On of my dining companions ordered an alfredo pasta with smoked prosciutto and loved it. Plus, all entrees come with a side salad.
Overall, it was a great meal. Our server was very knowledgeable and was happy to help us narrow down some of our selections. We will be back to La Bocca North.
Happy Hour takes place daily from 3PM to 6:30PM.
