– Scottsdale Arizona Events – Late April 2014 –
This is part two to my previous post on things to do in Scottsdale in April. This one focuses on events happening later in the month.
- APRIL 17-27 – “RENT” – See the world-renowned musical at ASU’s Evelyn Smith Music Theater.
- APRIL 19 – Soweto Gospel Choir – See the Grammy winning choir in person as they sing at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts.
- APRIL 26 – “Dinner on the Desert” at the Desert Botanical Gardens – Take part in the annual fundraising gala where you will experience live music, a silent auction and dinner al fresco. The event promises to be amazing. The Chihuly exhibit will still be in place, so you can explore the breathtaking glass sculptures as well.
- APRIL 26 – Bobby Mc Ferrin – See the gentleman who had us all singing “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” in person as he performs at the Scottsdale Center for Performing Arts.
- APRIL 28 – Golf “Fore-Charity” – The Carefree Knights of Columbus are hosting this golf fundraiser for the Society of St. Vincent De Paul. The shotgun start event will take place at both the Troon Country Club and the Desert Highlands Country Club. Lunch and dinner will be served, plus there will be auctions, competitions and prizes. Sounds like a fun way to give back.
- APRIL – MAY 31 – Paolo Soleri in Cave Creek: The Dome House – Sadly, we lost Paolo Soleri last year, but his work lives on all over Arizona. The Dome House in Cave Creek is one of his local projects and you can learn all about it over the next couple of months.
- APRIL-JULY 6 – Hollywood Costume at the Phoenix Art Museum – Come see iconic costumes from various films and performances from over the years. See costumes from The Wizard of Oz, Superman, My Fair Lady and more.
- APRIL – NOVEMBER – Chocolate, Chili and Cochineal at the Heard Museum – Come learn about these key ingredients of the Americas. Whether it was for food or for coloring textiles, you will be sure to learn more about these historically significant items.
- ONGOING – Classic Cooking Academy – Looking to spruce up your cooking skills or learn to make the perfect pastry? Look no further than Scottsdale’s Classic Cooking Academy. They have many new programs kicking off for adults and children this Spring.
Again, this is just a partial list of upcoming events. If you have any others you care to share, please feel free to do so in the comment section.
