– Where to Shop in Scottsdale AZ: Premier Lighting – An Evening with Swarovski –
I attended a fabulous exhibit on April 9th at the Premier Lighting store on Scottsdale Road near Kierland. It was another wonderful event sponsored by the Phoenix Home and Garden publication and it exceeded all expectations. This event showcased Swarovski’s “Cascade” light fixture which is on loan to Premier Lighting for a very short time.
I was fortunate enough to have the unique opportunity to view the magnificent “Cascade” crystal fixture designed by Belgian architect Van Duysen for Swarovski in 2003. During that year, Swarovski presented a lighting series called “Crystal Palace” and this piece is by far the most stunning light fixture in that series.
The fixture was hung in the center of the showroom and could be seen from every part of the store. It is a massive fixture. It is 20 inches in diameter and weighs 584 pounds. From the top, the crystals cascade 120 inches from the ceiling to the floor using strings of LED lights to insure the entire fixture sparkles. It can be hung over a table, or in this case, it simply cascaded to the floor.
The guest list included top architects, designers and a few real estate professionals like myself. I like to attend these events to gather information for many of our clients who typically come to the Scottsdale area to purchase a second home or a primary home after retiring.
Upon arriving, I was greeted by Jem Funk who is the Premier Lighting Showroom Manager and a Senior Lighting and Design Consultant. Guests were invited to stroll around the showroom while enjoying a glass of wine and the magnificent buffet put on by Macayo Restaurant. Macayo provided an amazing array of unusual and decadent appetizers and the lobster macaroni was my favorite. In the background was the soft vocal and guitar music provided by Ryan Fremling, the lead singer and guitarist who performed with his percussionist and bass guitarist.
During the event, I had the opportunity to preview and examine the light fixtures available through Premier Lighting. Premier’s selections encompass all styles of lighting for indoors and out. I noted that the price points of the fixtures and lamps ranged from modest up to the reputed $200,000 for the Swarovski “Cascade”.
