– Six Golf Courses in Scottsdale Make Golfweek’s 2014 Best Residential Courses List-
Golfweek magazine released its 2014 list for the top residential courses, and six Scottsdale golf courses made the list. And, overall, thirteen courses in Arizona were included in the rankings.
Top Scottsdale Residential Courses for 2014:
- Estancia – #14 – Coming in with the highest ranking for Arizona, was Estancia, an elegant community located in North Scottsdale. This 18-hole course was designed by Tom Fazio and opened in 1995.
- Desert Highlands – #58 – Desert Highlands moved from #61 to #58 in 2014. This well-established course opened in 1984 and was designed by Jack Nicklaus.
- Mirabel Club – #76 – A newcomer to the list, the Mirabel Club course in North Scottsdale was designed by Tom Fazio and launched in 2001.
- Troon Country Club – #81 – Staying at the same ranking as last year, Troon Country Club made the list again. This course opened in 1985 and was designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf.
- Silverleaf at DC Ranch – #82 – The course at Silverleaf rose in the rankings from #87 to #82. This course launched in 2002 and was designed by Tom Weiskopf.
- Desert Mountain Chiricahua Course – #96 – Chiricahua is one of Desert Mountain’s six golf courses and finishes out the Scottsdale courses in the Top 100. It opened in 1999 and was designed by Jack Nicklaus.
The other Arizona golf courses that made the top residential list for 2014 came in from all over the state. They are as follows:
- Forest Highlands Canyon Course – #17 – This is one of the two golf courses in Flagstaff’s Forest Highlands community designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf.
- The Rim – #18 – This course in Payson moved up four spots. It is also a Weiskopf course.
- Stone Canyon – #29 – This Tuscon course was designed by Jay Morrish and opened in 2000.
- Quintero – #38 – This course is located in Peoria, west of Scottsdale. It launched in 2000 and was designed by Rees Jones.
- Forest Highlands Meadow Course – #77 – This is the other course at Forest Highlands. Dating back to 1999, it also was designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf.
- Seven Canyons – #83 – This lovely course is located in Sedona. It opened in 2003 and was designed by Tom Weiskopf.
- The Gallery South Course – #98 – The final course in Arizona to make the list, the Gallery South is located in Marana in Southern Arizona. It launched in 2004 and was designed by John Fought.
