– Scottsdale ArtWalk – A Weekly Event in Old Town Scottsdale –
There was a huge turnout last week for the Thursday night ArtWalk in Old Town Scottsdale, which marked the seasonal kickoff, even though this is a year-round event. This well-loved event takes place from 7 to 10 PM each Thursday night when many of the art galleries in Old Town open their doors to the public for browsing, shopping and mingling.
I was impressed by the turnout of visitors for the first of many wonderful Thursday evenings to come, walking from gallery to gallery, sipping a glass of wine here and there, and enjoying the experience of seeing a broad spectrum of art from paintings to sculptures.
We spent quite some time in Victor Ostrovsky’s Fine Art Gallery. Victor is closing his doors after many years of being an established gallery on Main Street, but he will continue to offer his art through the internet. The he dec
A new gallery on Main Street is the Pejman Gallery. Bob Pejman has a remarkable background in business and art, and is a refreshing addition to the street. Stop in and browse through his display of art and enjoy his selection of books on the same subject.ision to close the retail store will give him more time to devote to his first love, painting.
A friend who accompanied me was looking specifically for large glass decorative pieces as well as unique furniture items for her new home. We found exactly what she was looking for at the Marshall/LeKae Gallery on Main Street. With the help of Randy Jones, the senior fine art consultant, we saw a number of pieces that would work beautifully in her home.
I couldn’t resist taking photos of the large abstract sculpture of musicians in the center of their showroom surrounded by traditional oil paintings as well as unique glass pieces. The table shown in the attached photo is a piece done by an artist in New Mexico. It is sculptured from metal, with interesting inlays of color. The artist completes each piece with a special seal that protects the finish and allows the owner to actually use the furniture.
If you are a regular attendee of the ArtWalk, I think you will be pleasantly surprised at some of the new galleries and artists this season. For those of you who have not experienced this fun evening of art, this is your opportunity to see some fabulous work and have the opportunity to talk with the gallery owners and artists. It is truly a unique Scottsdale experience.
