– Where to Eat and Treat Yourself in Scottsdale: Julia Baker Confections –
So this one is not technically in Scottsdale, but is just to the west in the equally charming Biltmore area of Phoenix.
I have been a fan of Julia Baker Confections for years now. I was thrilled when AJ’s started to carry some of their offerings and I always made a point to stop in at the Montelucia when the store was open there.
About a year ago, Julia Baker Confections opened a new flagship store at the Biltmore Fashion Park that takes the experience to a new level. The new location is a chocolate boutique and parlor where you can shop as well as enjoy a glass of wine and a decadent dessert.
The front area of the store is a beautiful retail area with glass, marble and mirrors. There you can pick out chocolates and confections a la carte, or select from one the many pre-packaged gift items. There are stunning chocolates, truffles, chocolate dipped pretzels and so much more to choose from. Although they are all delicious, my absolute favorite is the dark chocolate French Caramel Truffle.
The rear area of Julia Baker Confections is all about the experience. It is an elegant, intimate area with tables, couches and booths. Once seated, you can order a glass of wine or champagne to accompany one of their exquisite desserts or chocolate offerings that are delivered to your table. In fact, they have dubbed it the “Ultimate Chocolate Experience” and you can select various packages starting in the mid-$20 range all of the way up to $100.
The back area is a perfect for a date or to get a group of folks together for what is sure to be a tasty experience. They also do private parties and events in there.
So the next time you are near the Biltmore and are craving something a little sweet or are looking for a perfect hostess or client gift, be sure to stop by.
