– Where to Shop in Scottsdale AZ: Living Spaces Furniture and Home Decor-
What would bring over 400 people to a storefront in North Scottsdale before 9 AM on a Thursday? It might have been the promise of a free couch to the first 50 people, or free chairs to the next 100 or 450 other gift certificates up for grabs. Or, people could have been genuinely curious about this new addition to North Scottsdale.
So went the very successful opening of the first Arizona storefront for Living Spaces. According to Dennis Johnson, the Director of Retail Training, they opened the store a few minutes early after the ribbon cutting ceremony to allow the customers to come in.
Living Spaces has eight stores in southern California and the new store in the Promenade shopping center at 16275 N Scottsdale Road is the first of at least three stores to be opened in Arizona in the next year. The store is located in the space previously used by the Great Indoors. The manner in which Living Spaces opened up the 130,000 square feet gives the appearance and feel of an open, inviting showroom that displays their furniture and accessories beautifully.
In addition to the main showroom, they have separate areas called Elements, Revive and Kids Spaces. Elements has a unique grouping of one of a kind pieces of furniture and accessories that are always being restocked. Loved them all, including the chest with doors made of old typesetter cases.
The entryway to Kids Spaces reminds me of Sea World or Disneyland – really an eye catcher. Within this area are pieces of furniture designed just for the youngsters in your family.
The Revive section is a store within the store. Specializing in mattresses, they are going to offer educational classes on sleep and what type of mattress will work the best for each person.
Living Spaces offers something extremely unique to the valley. If a piece of furniture is on display, it is available. Until they get a local warehouse, the delivery time will be about three days. Once the warehouse is built, delivery time will be the same day if ordered early enough. How many of us have ordered something and waited days and weeks for delivery?
Interior design help? There are designers on staff to help customers find the perfect piece or pieces of furniture for their homes. And the delivery charge is $99 whether you have one piece or a room full of furniture.
What to do with the kids while you’re shopping? Check out the fleet of shiny cars designed to entertain your little one as you push them through the store. And, if that’s not enough, there is a Kids Fun Room with attendants, games and movies always running.
I was extremely impressed with the store and especially with the well-trained, cordial and helpful staff. I had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with Merina Alcocer who moved here from California and is one of the Senior Managers of the store. I’m looking forward to meeting Trisha Green, the General Manager of the store. I am predicting a great future for this store and its concept and I think all of you will enjoy it as well.
